Energy Drain

I am tired
But, there is so much left to do
according to me....
Every once in a while I will find myself in a
too busy,
too many things to do,
too frustrated,
too over booked,
too expectant,
too goal oriented
frame of mind.
I make a plan and a check list and begin tackling it
only to get half way through
and realize my eyes were too big.
There is no way I will finish
all I desire to finish
in the time I have allotted myself.

It drains all the energy out of me.
Now I don't want to do anything
finish anything
cuz I feel like I am never going to get it done anyway...

There is another,
who had much to accomplish
in what appeared to be a short amount of time
The difference between Him and me....
He never seemed to be rushing or overwhelmed.
He took breaks from His work when He needed to recharge.
And, each day
He focused on what was before Him for that day
He stayed purposeful
He never appeared too busy
to stop and give a word of wisdom or encouragement
And in the end....
He finished it all

Jesus Christ is who I should be modeling my life after.
Not what the world has set as a standard.
Is it possible?
When I lay my day at the feet of My Savior
Allowing Him to order my steps each day.

So, today I will try to fend off the tendency
to set myself up for another day of
energy drain
and instead
at the end of this day
I can say
I gave today to The Lord
and I finished
everything He desired for me to finish.
All for His glory!

Psalm 31:14-18 (VOICE)

But I pour my trust into You,

Eternal One.
I’m glad to say, “You are my God!”
I give the moments of my life over to You,
Eternal One.
Rescue me from those who hate me
and who hound me with their threats.
Look toward me,
and let Your face shine down upon Your servant.
Because of Your gracious love, save me!
Spare me shame,
O Eternal One,
for I turn and call to You.
Instead, let those who hate me be shamed;
let death’s silence claim them.
Seal their lying lips forever,
for with pride and contempt boiling in their hearts,
they speak boldly against the righteous
and persecute those who poured their trust into You.
